Payne Park, located next to the Franklin Senior Center in Franklin, IndianaThe Franklin Senior Center in the Indianapolis suburb of Franklin, Indiana is a very special place dedicated purely to the golden ones. Nestled right next to beautiful Payne Park, the grounds of the Franklin Senior Center seem to continue on forever.

Inside the Franklin Senior Center are 5,000 square feet of ideal gathering space with activities, programs, lectures and special Franklin events for seniors. Franklin’s Parks and Recreation Department oversees this delightful center.

The dining room and kitchen are available for senior-oriented events.

The Franklin Senior Center even provides meal service through their Senior Center Lunch Program, in addition to snacks, coffee and other refreshments for members. There are games, dances, a “Friday Night Jamboree” and special events such as private parties and entertainment.

The idea is to offer a low-cost ($2), nutritious meal to seniors. Not only do they get some good food, they have the opportunity to meet others, make friends, share information and socialize.

With one day’s notice, the van will pick up a passenger and take them to their important appointments and to the Franklin Senior Center. This program is operated by the Center itself and, though it is free of charge, donations are accepted.

The Franklin Senior Center attracts local seniors and those from nearby small towns, such as Whiteland, New Whiteland, Bargersville, Providence, Anita, Trafalgar and Amity. Thus the Parks and Recreation Department extends its services in a wide sphere throughout the city of Franklin and beyond.

Membership for this facility is a mere $8.00 per year for residents and $15 per year for non-residents of Franklin.
