Cultural Arts and Recreation Center: Franklin’s Bustling Activities Hub

The front doors of the Cultural Arts and Recreation Center in Franklin, IndianaThe Franklin, Indiana Cultural Arts and Recreation Center, only 20 minutes from state capital Indianapolis, is a popular fitness and activities center. The CARC, as it is called, contains some 30,000 square feet of meeting rooms, fitness areas, athletic courts, theater space and other activity venues, all in heavy use year-round.

Specifically, the Cultural Arts and Recreation Center’s major facilities include Beeson Hall, a flexible rental venue accommodating up to 400; the Arvin Activity Room, used for various programs and meetings; lockers and showers; a complete gymnasium for basketball and volleyball; racquetball courts; the Mountain Dew Climbing Wall; a state-of-the-art wellness walking and running track; and a stage and theater area.

Beeson Hall in Franklin, Indiana's Cultural Arts and Recreation CenterBeeson Hall, inside the Cultural Arts and Recreation Center, is a sought-after location for special Franklin events, such as Franklin business meetings, wedding receptions, lectures and celebrations. This lovely space has a food service area, a D.J. station and an excellent wooden dance floor. The hall can seat 250 guests in a cabaret style environment at tables or up to 400 in chairs for a lecture environment. The hall has easy access to downtown Franklin.

The Mountain Dew Climbing Wall in Franklin, Indiana's Cultural Arts and Recreation CenterThe Mountain Dew Climbing Wall at the Cultural Arts and Recreation Center is a great and practical training ground for Franklin kids and adults who love rock climbing. Adventure climbing training is ongoing and includes all basic rock-climbing techniques, as well as familiarization with the basic equipment.

The Cultural Arts and Recreation Center’s Fitness Center is extensive, containing plenty of exercise and weight equipment and an open running track that winds throughout the CARC. Members can also enjoy the CARC racquetball court for $7 per hour.

Yearly membership fees for residents are only $15, and $65 for non-residents. Families up to four can buy an annual membership for $50 if they are local residents. Annual membership in the CARC Fitness Center is $60 for residents.
